Sr. Software Developer - Knoxville

MapAnything is currently seeking a talented and experienced Sr. Software Developer to join our team. As a Sr. Software Developer,  you will work with a team of developers to build out new applications and upgrade existing software used by companies around the world. You’ll participate in initial product roadmapping, design discussions with the UI/UX team, and help turn well-researched ideas into tangible products.   • Experience in designing and architecting scalable cloud-based back end solutions for complex workflows

  • Advanced software development skills including managing large, distributed projects, unit testing, managing releases, setting up automated build/test, cloud deployment, etc.

  • General database skills, experience with GIS systems, mapping data, PostGIS, etc. desired

  • Experience in Hadoop, distributed computing, high performance computing, profiling, code optimization

  • Advanced skills in cloud environment (particularly AWS), including Elastic Map Reduce, Elastic Beanstalk

  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment, attention to detail, desire to be part of a high performance team developing scalable, cutting edge solution


  • Advanced Degree in Computer Science

  • MS + 5 years experience, or PhD + 2 years experience

  • 5+ years experience in Java, Python, C/C++

  • Experience utilizing developer tools and agile development methodology

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner

  • Fun, creative personality with excellent written and verbal communication skills
