A New Era for MapAnything

By: John Stewart, CEO at MapAnything

As you may have seen in the news, we announced our Series B Financing today. The round was led by Columbus Nova and Salesforce Ventures and included first-time participation from ServiceNow Ventures. Also, all our previous investors participated: Greycroft Partners, Harbert Venture Partners and individual investors Michael Lazerow and David Stern.

With this new round, we’re excited to add Yaron Eitan from Columbus Nova, and Mike Rosenbaum from Salesforce to be part of our Board. We’re very lucky to have a great group of investors who all share in our company vision that “Where Matters.”

When we began thinking about the future of location software, we saw a huge underserved market. Geolocation sounds very academic, but when you think of the most popular and valuable apps on your phones, they’re all powered by location. We use Maps in our everyday lives. We connect with friends, we crowd-source a restaurant, we determine the best way to get there and find a ride to do so.

Apps like Waze, Yelp, and Uber all help us be more productive in our personal lives but don’t help Field-based Sales or Service workforces be more productive. Why? They don’t connect location with the customer. Add to the mix that IOT devices and vehicles continually transmit location data, but most companies lack the ability to contextualize that data into better customer experiences. That’s the mission we’re here to solve.

And with over 1,400 customers on board today, we’re continually amazed what impact we can have when a Company truly buys into “Where Matters.”

Where We’ve Been

The last year has been busy. In addition finishing at over 100% YOY growth, we opened offices in London and Australia, expanded the size of our Sales and Product Development teams and moved into our new space here in Charlotte.

We’ve also been very focused on the product front, releasing a new Mobile experience, expanding our Premium Data Suite to help businesses better find new customers, and launched MapAnything LIVE, our IOT-enabled Platform to help business harness the location of their vehicles, field workers and assets to improve business processes.

Lastly, we’ve made significant progress with our Pledge 1% Program. In addition to our Dreamforce donation to the Second Harvest Food Bank and the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals, our employees; contributed 159 Hours, collected 462 Toys for Tots, 43 Coats for One Warm Coat, and partnered with The Blood Bank of the Carolinas to donate 57 units that will directly help 100’s of patients.

Where We’re Going

From the start, Salesforce has played and continues to play a vital and sustaining role in our success. It remains a key initiative of ours to foster and further progress this symbiotic relationship going forward.  As a very early partner on the AppExchange we saw the huge opportunity in aligning our vision to the promise of the Cloud, and are happy to belong to a small group of companies with not only their financial backing, but their support.

In the coming year we’ll enhance and release products focused on Optimizing the Field workforce, and linking IOT-enabled devices (vehicles, assets and mobile devices) to the Customer.  For too long, companies have relied on disconnected and antiquated platforms to help them manage fleets, or to create and dispatch Service requests.  We’ll help our customers leverage IOT-enabled location data to provide real value to their business.

This year we will also be extending our product suite to the ServiceNow Platform.  See what they have to say about the partnership below:

“ServiceNow Ventures is pleased to make the investment in MapAnything and bring mapping integration to the ServiceNow platform,”Dave Wright, chief strategy officer, ServiceNow. “ServiceNow helps organizations replace the manual work patterns of the past with intelligent workflows of the future across IT, customer service, HR and security. Many ServiceNow customers manage assets, devices and the deployment of field agents on the ServiceNow platform, and mapping will improve optimization, and our mission to deliver work at lightspeed.”

It’s not a trivial effort to expand into a new ecosystem.  So when you do make that leap, it’s imperative that we share the same vision and values.  I’m confident to say we’ve found both a great platform and team going forward.  Look for more announcements here later this Spring.

The past year has propelled us even closer to our goal of becoming the world’s leading business platform for “Where” software, and we’re confident this trend will continue!  We have a lot of great things on the horizon, and I can only imagine what other exciting opportunities will arise.

Thank you for your continued interest in and support of MapAnything!
