MapAnything, like many like-minded technology companies, is focused on the critical role that women play in making organizations successful.

In the year since the last Dreamforce, the #metoo movement has been trending near the top of the Nation’s discourse, giving women the courage and platform to assert their value and demand equal treatment across all professional fields. But, even with broad-based awareness, women in leadership roles are still dramatically outnumbered by their male counterparts.  Research shows that women are still paid only $.80 on the dollar for the same job (which for a full-time worker, equates to $10k per year). Relatively few companies have comprehensive wage and position protection strategies for women during childbearing years, and women often spend more time caring for children and elders while men are able to work longer hours and pursue advancement. While 56% of all bachelors degrees will be earned by women this year, male graduates are generally paid more than women in their first job after college. And, women are less likely to negotiate effectively, further widening the pay gap.

The gender gap touches all women, at all levels of the workforce. Yet, in senior leadership positions, the problem becomes more acute. Only 5.4 percent of Fortune 500 CEOs are women, according to research conducted over more than two years by Florida State University, released yesterday. Women CEOs are paid less, have shorter tenures, and their companies are punished in the stock market, even when their firms are just as profitable as those run by men. In addition, women CEOs are less likely to serve as board chair of their companies. When women leave their post, most are replaced by men, as most Director, VP, SVP and General Manager positions are held by men who advance to the top position. When organizations pass over women, they pass over the the unique values, perspectives and skills brought by today’s brilliant, educated, capable women.

Women and men alike are focused on solving gender bias and the inequality that results from it. They’re starting with dialogue and turning dialogue into policy and best practices across business. Technology companies are at the forefront of this movement.

To that end, we’ve assembled a group of women that are in the midst of building vibrant careers and facing the challenge head on.  I hope you’ll join us at Dreamforce for an informative discussion about the challenges faced by women, and their strategies and tools for bridging the gap.

Since I founded WITI in 1989, I have yet to see a leader more committed to moving the needle for women than Salesforce’s founder, Marc Benioff. I am excited for WITI to be partnering with MapAnything (a Platinum sponsor of Dreamforce and Salesforce ISV Partner) at Dreamforce on an event that encourages more women to take a seat at the table. Women's equality in the workplace remains a pivotal topic in today's economy and we look forward to helping provide an honest and supportive environment to discuss it.
